The Onward Americano Goes Fortnightly at Burghley Park

18 July 2026  ·  3 min read

The Onward Americano now has a home, a rhythm, and a date for its first night. From August, we are running the Americano every other Saturday at PadelX Burghley Park in Stamford, starting Saturday 1 August.

What an Onward night looks like

If you have not played an Americano before: you enter on your own, not as a pair. Every round the draw gives you a new partner and new opponents, every point you win goes onto your personal total, and at the end of the night one name tops the leaderboard. It is padel's most social format, and we think the best one, because the rotation does the introductions for you. By the end of the night you have played with or against everybody there.

We run the whole thing on our own scoreboard: the draw is generated to be provably fair, everyone plays the same number of games, sit-outs are shared evenly, and a big screen at the venue shows who is on which court, the round countdown, and who is up next. All you do is turn up and play.

One Onward twist: the standings stay hidden all night. Nobody knows who is winning until the final scores go in and the board reveals itself with everyone watching. Bring your nerve.

The details

Entry is £15 a player. The night runs on Burghley Park's outdoor courts, and places are limited so the format stays tight, when it is full, it is full. Every finishing position earns Onward ranking points, from 100 for the champion down to 10 for turning up and playing, so a season of nights builds into something bigger.

And if you do not fancy playing, come anyway. Spectators are welcome, free, always. The last game of the night, with the leaderboard still secret and everyone gathered round one court, is properly good viewing.

Getting in

Entries open on the Americano page ahead of each night, first come, first on the roster. Follow along there for dates, and we will publish every night's full results and board after the fact, this website keeps the receipts.

On and off court, this is the thing we have wanted to run since Onward started. See you at Burghley.
